Preservers Of Sound has now been running for about 15 years, we started off as a small group of people just sharing our music & interest in the history of 1940’s music. The concept of Preservers Of Sound is to widen the general interest of music styles from the past.
About 9 years ago we started to do a stall at various Dances/Clubs around the South East of England concentrating mainly on 1940’s music, we kept getting requests for other genre and period recordings so decided to diverse into the 1920’s through to the 1950’s.
We set up this web-site to make the cd’s we sell on our stall available to a wider market, therefore spreading the music further afield and decided to specialise on a quality selection of 1920’s through to the 1950’s music. We are currently carrying around 350 titles on the stall, not all of these will be available on this site so please join our MAILING LIST for a complete catalogue and updates of new titles to our catalogue.
Most of the cd’s on this site are produced by CJRO RECORDS (see the CJRO RECORDS page for more details). Like all sellers we do have what we call redundant stock, cd’s that just don’t seem to sell, we get great pleasure in giving these cd’s to our local library for lending out to the public. We have found that this is another way of widening the interest in the music from the 1920’s through to the 1950’s.
Preservers Of Sound will continue to bring you a wide selection of quality recordings of artists and genre’s from the past so watch this site for updates.
Other services provided, well we organise 1940’s Dances and Events, The Spitfire Bounce and The Otford 1940’s Swing Dance are run as charity event’s (please see links page).
We also provide a professional Event Organisation and Management Service and can provide DJ’s, appropriate decoration, re-enactors, period vehicles etc to give an authentic feel and atmosphere to your Event.
| Preservers Of Sound are supporters of ACTION DUCHENNE. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a condition where the muscles lose their protein and waste away. This condition mainly affects boy’s and sufferers typically die young (late teens to early twenties). | |
ACTION DUCHENNE helps raise money to fund research into finding a cure and also help promote awareness of this awful condition. We help to support this charity because our eldest grandson Curtis-Rocco was diagnosed with Duchenne a short while ago. |
